Betonfestival focuses on contemporary visual artists who engage with concrete, East German modernism, and its reception history. Particular emphasis is placed on conceptual, sculptural, and installation-based works that enter into a spatial dialogue with their historical references, thereby opening up new perspectives on East German modernist architecture, site-specific art, and the spaces that surround us.
