Ruined cities, violent volcanic eruptions, and melting glaciers — throughout history, artists have been captivated by catastrophe. From biblical depictions of the Last Judgement to today’s anxieties over war, climate change, and AI, the theme of destruction runs deep in artistic expression.
The artworks from the Museum’s own collection meet contemporary art. In the exhibition „Apocalypse: From Last Judgement to Climate Threat“ the viewer goes throughout the representation of doom from the Renaissance until today.
Among the contemporary artists featured are Inka & Niclas. This artist duo explores the complex relationship between humans and the natural world — from moments of harmony and healing to the darker impulses of destruction. Their works lead viewers through haunting yet reflective scenes, highlighting the effects of urbanization and climate change on global ecosystems.
