Fear, like joy, sorrow, anger, or surprise, is a fundamental human emotion. The exhibition at the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz explores this feeling – the feeling that Edvard Munch so powerfully captured in his work. Through his paintings Edvard Munch depicts the intensity of human experience and the fragility of existence. The exhibition also places Munch in dialogue with contemporary artists, highlighting how these timeless emotions continue to resonate and find new forms of expression today.
One of the artists, who was placed in the exhibition in dialogue with Edvard Munch, is Sascha Weidner. Sascha Weidner’s work deals with the creation of a radical subjective pictorial world. Marked by sensibility, intimacy, and heightened perception, his photographs open a poetic space between inner and outer worlds.
In addition, an upcoming solo exhibition of Sascha Weidner’s work will open at the Dorothee Nilsson Gallery on 6 September 2025, offering a deeper look into his poetic approach to photography.
