Yvon Chabrowski is participating in the exhibition „…oder kann das weg? Fallstudien zur Nachwende“ at neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst (nGbK).

Yvon Chabrowski is part of the group exhibition …oder kann das weg? Fallstudien zur Nachwende at neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst (nGbK). Opening on September 15, 12 am.

This exhibition explores how art engaged with social realities in the post-unification Germany. Artists applied the methodologies they had developed in the late GDR to the new situation, but often found their practices and lives invisibilised or overwritten by the new realities. Many of their methods and motifs were illegible within the re-unified Germany’s cultural system and the art market’s economies. The search for a (new) language of their own is still going on. In the works of this and the following generations, this search has become part of a broader movement towards a more diversified art. »Muttiland Revisited«, »Marlboro Man«, »Stasisauna«, »Depot«, »Becoming a Wessi« and »Becoming an Ossi« are artistic and curatorial case studies that are activated and confronted with one another in a scenography developed by Suse Weber.

Case studies and contributions by Tina Bara, Can Candan, Yvon Chabrowski, Harun Farocki, Jörg Herold, Susanne Huth, Rainer Görß/Ania Rudolph, Bernd Hiepe, Margret Hoppe, Susanne Huth, Silke Koch, Eric Meier, Duc Minh Pham, Andrea Pichl, David Polzin, Sabine Reinfeld, Sophie Reinhold, Tucké Royale, Beatrice Stammer, Gabriele Stötzer, Anna Zett/Hermann Heisig
